Hens On The Run...
2009-09-11
The ‘hens’ at Sunny Hill Free Range Eggs are on the run! Sisters, Catherine, Claire and Christine will be running the 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South Shields in this year’s Great North Run on Sunday 20th September!
Having talked about it for many years, the sisters decided that they would partake in this year’s marathon having always wanted to do it, but only now has the time felt right. Catherine and Christine will be raising money for Cancer Research whilst Claire will be running to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.
Catherine Armstrong said “The support we have received locally from family, friends, colleagues, and regional businesses has been tremendous. In these times of hardship, it is heartening to see that people are still willing to dig deep and help donate to worthwhile charities”
The girls at Sunny Hill have been training hard for many months in and around rural Northumberland, with Claire Royle adding that “North Northumberland has been a wonderfully idyllic place to run. I can’t think of a better place to train.”
Christine Jackson added, “Needless to say, it was suggested that we all run in chicken suits, however we soon changed that topic of conversation!”.
The girls will be setting off from Sunny Hill on Sunday morning, having enjoyed their Sunny Hill Free Range eggs for breakfast, which will go a long way to help them around the world’s most famous half marathon.
If you would like to sponsor the girls, please go to their pages at www.justgiving.com
