Scrambled to Victory
2007-11-27
Yesterday, to launch National Egg Week, Border egg producers Sarah Calder of Oxenrig Eggs, and Christine Jackson and Catherine Armstrong of Sunny Hill Eggs offered a free breakfast of eggs to Berwick Rugby Club and their opposition Percy Park from North Shields, at Berwick Rugby Club. The pre-match egg breakfast was offered to raise awareness of the health benefits of an egg as well as give the players a nutritious boost to their pre-match preparations.
National Egg week running from 8th October, aims to raise the awareness of the nutritional values that the egg has to offer. And that is just what players and families did on Sunday. They tucked into a breakfast of fried eggs on toast, eggy bread and scrambled eggs, which was an ‘eggsellent’ start to the game for the winning team – Percy Park.
Sarah and Christine were certainly whisked off their feet all morning after scrambling to serve a breakfast to 100 people. They were almost beaten, however no one had poached them.
All the players at Berwick Midis and their opponents, Percy Park thoroughly enjoyed their egg breakfasts and realised the importance of starting the day with a good nutritional “Eggy" breakfast.
